Cameras that know when it's day and when it's night
Our home security cameras automatically switch between day and night modes so you can be sure they're always getting a good view of any intruders.
The night vision feature makes use of small infrared (IR) light emitting diodes built around the camera lens. While IR light is not visible to the human eye (apart from the faint red glow radiating from the diodes in low-light settings), IR rays are detected by most modern camera sensors. When recording dark scenes, the IR emitters are turned on so that light radiated from them illuminates the objects in front of the camera, bounces back from them, and is then captured by the camera lens. Subsequently, the camera's image processor converts the IR light into black and white shots (due to the fact that infrared is invisible to the human eye, it is colourless; hence, images taken in low-light settings will always be black and white even if the camera is generally capable of recording in full colour).
Responsive Automatic Number Plate Recognition
ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) is a versatile technology that is currently used in many different traffic applications. This includes for example access control systems, high-speed applications such as free flow tolling and enforcement and dragnet investigation. Industrial cameras are most typically used because of their real-time compatibility. When outfitted with the proper sensor, they offer the necessary sensitivity to capture high quality images during short exposure times.
Certain regional peculiarities are crucial here, such as the size of the number plates; in Europe a horizontal resolution of 800 x 1000 pixels per lane is recommended. This grows to 1600 x 2000 pixels per lane for the USA, Middle East and China. In addition, depending on the number plate properties a monochrome camera variant with IR light support is preferred in Europe, while a colour variant with white light support is helpful in the Middle East and China.
