Business Profile

Welcome to Bulk Metals! Established in 2009, we are a family owned and run scrap metal recycling business based in Penistone near Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

For over 30 years our family has been hauling scrap all over the UK. As you can imagine, this means we know the scrap metal market very well!

In 2011 the business had grown so much that we moved to our new, bigger scrap metal recycling yard where we continue to grow and expand. In 2013 we designed our own specialised ELV station which opened in December 2013 and we haven't looked back since. We now cover the majority of South and West Yorkshire and Derbyshire including Penistone, Barnsley, Sheffield and Huddersfield.

We pride ourselves on offering top quality service without losing our down-to-earth and friendly touch. Our staff are all trained to the highest level and we're always on hand if you have any questions or need some advice.

Our new on -site Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) has all the equipment necessary to ensure that scrap vehicles are disposed of in line with government regulations.

Once a Scrap Car arrives for destruction they are moved to our ELV station. The Scrap Cars are then loaded onto our SEDA decontamination units which safely remove 98% of all hazardous fluids from an average vehicle including:

Engine and gearbox oil
Fuel (including LPG)
Coolant/antifreeze
Screen wash
Clutch and brake fluids
The batteries, wheels and tyres are removed for recycling. Oil filters are removed and crushed to recover additional oil. Shock absorbers are drilled and drained.

After depollution, the vehicle is moved to a large on-site shed where the engine is removed using one of our scrap-handling cranes. The shell of the Scrap Vehicle is then placed into one of our skips ready for its onward journey.

When depollution is completed, Bulk Metals issue a Certificate of Destruction allowing the Scrap car to be deregistered with the DVLA. Only an ATF can issue a Certificate of Destruction, giving the last owner peace of mind again any possibility of future prosecutions relating to the vehicle.
