Live-in Care
A home retains many memories, whether it is memories of children and loved ones or any other of the many things that make your home a relaxing or happy place for you. The thought of leaving your home can be worrying, especially with the myth that the only viable option when faced with reduced indecencies is moving a residential or nursing home.
This is why Elderly Care Service aims to help keep your independence by providing a live in support service. A support worker can move in with you to provide a completely tailored live in support service, supporting you completely to remain independent right in the comfort of your own home. This will afford your family and friends peace of mind, knowing that you are in expert hands, being cared for in the place where you are most comfortable.
A great advantage over a care home where so many other residents must be considered, live in support is completely one-to-one and completely bespoke to your individual needs. Live in Support service is flexible to accommodate your regular routine and specific needs, as well as being able to adapt to your changing circumstances.
Having someone else living in your home can be a very personal matter. This is why we will take extra care in matching our staff with your personality and situation as well as your support needs. We also ensure that all of our live-in support staff are fully aware of your expectation and personal preferences.
Social Companionship
Understandably, you would prefer to stay in your own home. It is where you feel relaxed, happy and comfortable. However, as family members grow older and move out into their own homes, your house may not be as busy as it once was, and you don't have so many people on hand for extra help when you need it.
Social companionship service from Elderly Care Service helps by giving you the support you need to stay independent, giving you the help of a support worker at times to suit your convenience.
This service (Social Companionship) is most suited to individuals who can benefit from having the reassurance that someone is there to help when they need it. It also gives family members peace of mind where they are unable to regularly visit, since they know that someone is there to support their loved one.
Our support workers, who are selected in consideration of your personality and requirements, will be there for company and conversation, as well as providing help with household and social activities. Our service is tailored to the requirements you provide and will be adapted to your changing needs. To make sure that you are happy, we will arrange for you to meet your support worker before your support service starts to make sure you are happy.
What does the Social Companionship service include?
Company
At the core of our Social Companionship service, your support worker will be there to spend time with you. Do you like sitting and chatting, looking at old family photos, watching television or going for short walks? Our support workers will be there to provide you with company and reassurance. Having someone to sit and chat with may be exactly what you need to brighten your day.
Household Activities
Where your independence is reduce, your support worker can help with light housekeeping tasks, which can include dusting, washing, ironing, vacuuming, and changing bed linen. They can also help with preparing meals, considering your preferences and when you want to eat. They can also help with your weekly shop.

Dementia Care
Dementia doesn't have to stop you living at home.
Elderly Care Service is committed to helping people affected by dementia live happily, safely and securely in their own home. Currently there are over 750,000 people in the UK diagnosed with dementia. It is estimated that by 2025 this figure will have increased to over 1 million.
Dementia does not exclusively affect the elderly. At present, there are over 16,000 young people affected by the disease in the UK.
The disease can often be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are commonly associated with a wide variety of alternative conditions.
If you are worried that someone close to you may be suffering from dementia, keep an eye out for the following symptoms:
lapses in memory and trouble finding the right words.
forgetting the way home from the shops, or being unable to remember names and places
unusual mood changes
problems with communication i.e. reading writing and talking
If you are at all worried for yourself or a relative, make an appointment with a GP, who will perform some very simple tests, often involving a simple conversation, to make a diagnosis.
If you have been diagnosed with dementia or are a relative of someone who has, it has probably come as a shock; despite how prepared you felt you were. You probably have an awful lot of questions that you'd like answers too.
At Elderly Care Service we have a specially trained team of dementia support workers, who have a wealth of experience and knowledge between them. We can answer all your questions and provide you with the comfort that you are not tackling this alone.
One of the first questions we get asked is 'can I continue living at home?'
Studies have shown that those affected by dementia can benefit greatly from the familiarity associated with living in their own home. We have found that this is certainly the case with our client and our carers prioritise ensuring you or your loved one is able to do this safely, for as long as possible.
Carefully managed and with the right support, there is no reason why a dementia sufferer cannot maintain independence and quality of life at home for years to come.
People often forget the impact of dementia on the family of a sufferer. If you have had a relative diagnosed with dementia it can seem overwhelming. There is so much to learn and so much to think about that you have never had to consider before. You can often feel lost. Elderly Care Service's specialist dementia support revolves around creating and maintaining a familiar routine and environment for dementia sufferers, within their own homes. We carefully match our support workers to our clients based on a variety of criteria, including common interests and the type of support required. This ensures they receive the necessary support but more than that, gain a trusted companion who can be relied upon to take care of everything they are unable to.
If you would like to find out more about how we can help make your life easier living at home or just have some questions that need answering, give us a call on 0113 2341660

Mental Health Support
Statistics suggest that 1 in 4 people will experience mental health problem in any given year.
Elderly Care Service believes a person with mental health illness has an improved outcome if there is a therapeutic alliance with the person supporting them.
Elderly Care Service focuses on the relationship strategies and provide a service which promotes independence and optimize a person's strength in the community. As a team and organisation Elderly Care Service believes that the person with mental health illness is at the centre of the support and should be the judge of their support, contributing to the assessment and support plan.
Our understanding of "recovery" is that it is a deeply personal process of supporting a person to live a satisfying and hopeful life. We also work on developing a new meaning for people and find a way to contribute to life even with the limitations of their mental illness.
