Business Profile

About Us... We are a non-profit making charity working to help individuals in Kirklees who are experiencing housing related problems and need support with learning and employment.

Fusion Housing was created in 2010 but its roots in Kirklees go back much further. Fusion Housing grew out of the joining of SHAP which supported young people to be able to successfully maintain and keep their tenancies, and CHAS who’s basis in Kirklees was providing housing advice. As the organisation has grown the services we provide has developed.

Currently we run:
A range of support services for young people across Kirklees, including Young Parents, Refugees and Asian Women. We have a Bond Bank scheme to help individuals that do not have children, and on low income and who are in band C/D/E with the council to secure a private rented property in the Kirklees area. (subject to meeting our bond bank criteria and background checks).

You can access advice and specialist Legal Help in Housing matters and representation at the local county courts at Housing Possession hearings. We provide a range of informal and accredited learning opportunities, information, advice and guidance to support young people into education, employment and training. Weekly work clubs are held in Dewsbury and Huddersfield to assist jobseekers of all ages to find, apply and get into work.

Our Recycling Project ‘Think Smart Recycle' provides recycled furniture and white goods free to people on low incomes. This service is run in partnership and can be accessed in different ways depending on your circumstances. Fusion can only make a referral directly for its own current clients. Our 'Think Smart Recycle' charity shop in Dewsbury is also a new and affordable way of accessing goods for both you and your home.

We are also a base for North Kirklees food bank and you can access food packs from our shop base in Dewsbury or from our partner agencies that may be more local to you. All of our services are non- judgemental, open to a diverse community and have been designed with your needs in mind. If you need help you can access our services through our drop in service, calling us, emailing us, or ask an existing worker to refer to us if you are involved with other agencies.

They are often set up in places like community centres and churches. The rising cost of living, combined with wage freezes and job losses, means that many people in Britain are now living below the poverty line increasing the need for food banks. If you can no longer afford to food you need to live at a healthy standard you can turn to your local food bank for help.
