Re cycling upholstered furniture With all the publicity regarding household waste, packaging etc. etc., one would imagine there would be more emphasis placed on bulky household furniture as an ideal commodity for being recycled. (ie- re-upholstered) There are thousands of container loads of cheap upholstered sofas arriving on our shores only to be dumped 12 - 24 months later. The British furniture trade are making quality furniture which can be kept and recovered time and time again. My wife Miriam and I have been carrying out this work for over 40 years. A little Government support in this area for our country's upholsterers would be appreciated. Come on John Lewis Partnership, and other department stores. Re-open your Upholstery repairs department and give your customers quality furniture backed up by a re-covering service. Let's give the "Shed" outlets a run for their money.
